Cooksley’s Independent Funeral Services was established early in 2016 by Jean Cooksley, who had been arranging and conducting funerals for over 30 years. Jean offers her invaluable experience to the business, with a firmly established background in large corporate Management within the Funeral Industry, Jean felt it was time to branch out on her own, in order to fully uphold her own business values. Jean’s own perception of the profession demands that her team work diligently and responsibly, and under her guidance uphold her traditional values of dignity and respect.

Cooksley’s is now the only remaining Independent Funeral Director’s in Wellingborough. We are dedicated to providing the highest standard of funeral care, services and facilities to every family in our local community.

We pride ourselves on our involvement within the local community and the relationship we have built with many Wellingborough families, and those living in surrounding towns and villages.

Jean

Proprietor, Funeral Director, N.A.F.D. DIP
Jean entered into the profession in 1984 and has over thirty years of experience as a Funeral Director and Regional Manager. She achieved her diploma in 1988 with the National Association of Funeral Director’s. Jean opened Cooksley’s Funeral Home in 2016 with her Grandson Michael. Her unparalleled support in the day to day running of the branch has been instrumental in the success of the buisness. Jean’s philosophy is to uphold the tradition of the Funeral Industry; attending to the needs of our families with the utmost dignity and respect.

Michael

Proprietor, Funeral Director & Embalmer
Michael established Cooksley’s Independent Funeral Services with his Grandmother Jean in January 2016. He has over ten years of experience working in the profession as a Funeral Director, where he has covered every aspect of the industry, including Embalming. Michael brings to the business a fine attention to detail and this shows in the quality of his work. His main priority is to work closely with the families, guiding and supporting them in arranging and conducting funerals to suit their specific requirements. Michael also works on behalf of HM Coroner, supporting Northants Police in the attendance of sudden deaths in the county of Northamptonshire, working closely with bereaved families in their time of loss.

Wayne

Funeral Director
Wayne joined Cooksley’s in September 2017 from the local Crematorium where the opportunity arose to train in the Funeral profession. Wayne has always had a dream to work within the Funeral industry and is now fulfilling that ambition. His dedication to the role and his commitment to the families is an asset to the business. His duties and responsibilities include Funeral Arranging; where he is particularly attentive to detail and consoling and sensitive in his approach. Wayne has completed his training as a Funeral Director and now conducts his own Funerals. He is skilled in all aspects of Mortuary practice and his role covers all elements of the profession, including the training, coaching and ongoing development of staff. Wayne also works on behalf of HM Coroner, supporting Northants Police in the attendance of sudden deaths in the county of Northamptonshire, working closely with bereaved families in their time of loss.
